Trent A. Petrie, Ph.D. is a Professor in the Department of Psychology’s American Psychological Association accredited doctoral program in counseling psychology. He is the Director of the UNT Center for Sport Psychology and Performance Excellence (www.sportpsych.unt.edu) and, through the Center, coordinates the sport and performance psychology services offered to athletes, coaches, and sport teams at UNT and throughout the DFW community. Dr. Petrie is a licensed psychologist in the state of Texas (#24733), a Certified Sport Consultant, Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), and a Fellow in both AASP and Division 47 (Sport and Exercise Psychology) of the American Psychological Association (APA). Dr. Petrie is a national leader in the field of sport psychology, serving as President of APA Division 47 from 2011-2014. His research has been funded through grants from AASP, the National Collegiate Athletic Association, and the National Association of Sport and Physical Education. He has over 200 presentations at national and international conferences and over 100 publications in scientific journals. He is a national expert in the areas of body image and eating disorders among athletes, and the psychology of athletic injury.
